General Resort Information:
Our modern RV camping and lodging resort has over 120 sites ranging from wilderness Black Hills camping to the modern lodging cabins & guesthouses, with full accommodations. We have tent camping, partial RV campsites and full RV campsites.
Our lodging units range from a full size 3 to 5 bedroom 24'x cabins to small 13'x13' cabins that hold the same quality and cleanliness. With over 38 acres of tall pine trees, we are one of the Black Hills most naturally shaded RV & tent camping resorts. Our resort's location in the center of the Black Hills, allows our guests to travel throughout the area while using the resort as a centrally located vacation/holiday destination.
Resort recreation activities include free WiFI, a modern playground area for children, horseshoe pits, mini golf, a heated swimming pool, and a hot tub facility (for adults), wooded walking trails that will lead you to our petrified wood trail and mystery area that defies gravity. Our mystery house is a must when you are a guest of our resort.
Our staff will assist you with area plans and offer suggestions that will enhance your vacation experience. We encourage our guests to contact resort staff for events taking place in our Black Hills area, as well as suggestions of local Black Hills attractions.
Black Hills Area Information:
Our staff has a very good knowledge of the attractions in the Black Hills. Guests are welcome to seek assistance in planning daily trips into the hills. We also offer a listing of suggested tours, area maps, and brochures for things to see in the hills. Being in the center of the Black Hills, we are a short distance to all-major tourist attractions and natural wonders, such as caves, lakes, water falls, archeological sites and the majestic beauty of Custer State Park. Black Hills Area Tours and Car Rentals:
Daily tours, operated by Grayline of the Black Hills and Rushmore Tours to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Mountain, the Needles Highway and Custer State Park are available daily from the resort. Black Hills Tour tickets for southern Black Hills tours may be purchased at the resort store in advance. Guests using the area Black Hills tours will depart from the resort store and return to the same location. For car rentals, we suggest a local company that will pick you up, depending on dates number of days, of the rental.

Lodging and Camping Resort Courtesy:
Quiet hours are from 9:30 PM to 7:30 AM local time. As a courtesy to all campers, we ask that generators be turned off during quiet hours.
Pets:
Dogs are welcome within reason and must be well mannered, leashed and quiet at all times, under the following conditions.
(1) Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.
(2) Pets are not allowed in facilities such as: restrooms, showers, the pool and hot tub area, the resort store and laundries.
(3) Pets may not be left alone or unattended whether in the camping areas or lodging units.
Pets left in lodging units, must be in an approved pet kennel and cannot bark or disturb other guests. In lodging units, a charge of $5.00 per night, per pet, a $100.00 pet deposit on a valid credit card, and a signed pet agreement upon check in, are required. The resort feels that people should be allowed to enjoy their pets, but neither we or other guests should have to tolerate ill-mannered pets or clean up after them. Registered service dogs are exempt. Exotic pets are not permitted on the resort. All accupied lodging units, will be inspected and checked daily.
Lodging Check In – Check Out:
As a general rule, check in time is 2:00 PM to 9:30 PM and check out time is by 10:00 AM for all lodging units. This will allow our housekeeping staff ample time to clean & prepare each unit prior to the next arrival.
Camping Check In - Check Out:
RV’s and tent campers may check in from noon until 9:30 PM and check out by noon on departure day. As a courtesy to all guests, we ask that all camping arrivals check in no later than 9:30 PM.
Resort Office/Store:
The resort store and office will open at 7:30 AM and close at 9:30 PM. during the regular summer season. During the off season, office/store hours will be adjusted accordingly. Please call for arrangements, if you plan too arrive later. Our store offers convenience items, gifts, a small supply of grocery & convenience items and camping supplies. All resort guests or drive ins, must check in and register at the resort office/store upon arrival.
Pancake Breakfast:
We offer all of our guests $1.00 per person, pancakes (all you can eat) during our regular summer season (mid June to mid August). Ala carte menu items such as scrambled eggs, beverages, Canadian "style" bacon, ham and breakfast burrito may be purchased separately. Catering for early evening meals can be prepared for reunions, meetings and retreats, by advance special request, during our summer season.
Evening Campfires:
All sites and most lodging accommodations have either a charcoal/wood grill or an approved fire pit. Firewood may be purchased from the resort store. Due to beetle and bug infestation, all guests bringing firewood from out of state, must leave the wood in their vehicle, until placed into the campfire and burned. A campfire is recommended after a full day of enjoying the magical beauty of the Black Hills and surrounding.
Laundry Service:
The resort has 2 laundry facilities, one located in the center of the camping area joining the shower house and the other which is located behind the office/store, adjacent to the main shower house.
Mail Service:
Resort guests may deposit outgoing mail in the outgoing mailbox in the resort office/store. Regular mail received for guests will be kept at the store unless we are instructed further. RV’ers who wish to have their mail sent to the resort prior to their arrival may pick it up when they register.
Messages:
Messages to guests will be displayed on the message board in the resort office/store. Every effort will be made to deliver emergency messages to resort guests immediately.
Propane & RV Repair Service:
We are fortunate to have the Black Hills RV Service Center within one mile of the resort.
Recreation Facilities:
All resort recreational facilities are for registered guests only. Recreational facilities include a modern playground area, basketball court, horseshoe pits, mini golf a 50” heated swimming pool, a hot tub for adults, walking trails, our mysterious gravity house and our petrified wood walking trail. The resort offers a list of area attractions, scenic sites, local eating establishments and a complete listing of Black Hills & Badlands attractions. Area attractions include Bear Country USA, Reptile Gardens, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Mountain, the scenic Badlands, Sitting Bull Crystal Caverns, Rushmore Water Slide, the Ranch Amuzement Park (go carts/mini golf), the 1880 Train, Beautiful Rushmor Cave, etc. Lake & stream trout fishing and swimming in area lakes, hiking trails in Custer State Park and the Ben Black Elk wilderness area, several area golf courses, visits to area caves and general sight seeing. We also offer lists of free attractions for area museums, Story Book Island, Dinosaur Park, Sky Line Drive and the back roads of the beautiful Black Hills.
Reunion Facilities:
Great for meetings and reunions, we have 2 large covered facilities available for large groups to assemble. These facilities must be reserved in advance and rental fees applied. They contain picnic tables in the covered portion and on the surrounding decks.
Security:
Our resort security monitors the resort at irregular hours on a 24 hour basis.
Shower Facilities:
Two clean shower houses are available for our campers, one in the center of the resort, the second one which has a small laundry area is located in the center of the camping area. Shower/Restroom facilities close in the Winter season, or when freezing weather dictates.
Swimming Facilities:
Weather permitting, our pool will be available for use from 10:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M. daily during our regular summer season. Off season hours will be adjusted according to traffic & weather conditions.
Telephones:
There is a payphone located outside the resort store and a phone jack in the store for access to emails which require dial up service. A Verizon Cellular tower is located on property, so most cellular phones, will recieve outstanding service.
Wildlife:
Mystery Mountain Resort has wild turkey, deer and raccoons as frequent visitors to the resort. In the evenings, especially during a full moon, you will hear the wolves & coyotes howl from Bear Country located next to our resort. As this accurs, the wild coyotes in the area, tend to chime in from all other directions. Peacocks will wander in from Bear Country from time to time as well. You will find some of the animals are relatively tame, so please supervise your children, so they don't abuse these little creatures in anyway.
Worship Services:
A current listing of area houses of worship with schedules and locations is available to guests at the resort office/store.
Festivals in the Black Hills:
Throughout the summer various events take place in our amphitheater. The Black Hills Bluegrass Festival and the Black Hills Gospel Festival are held at the resort and other programs are offered from time to time. For a few years, we had a Native American dancing exhibition in our reunion hall every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evening, throughout the summer. We always hope to have these types of groups return.
