FAQs About Black Hills Resort Vacations
Including Hotel, RV, and Tent Camping

General Camping and Lodging Resort Activity Information:  Welcome to the Mystery Mountain Resort.  Our modern RV camping and lodging resort has 140 sites ranging from wilderness Black Hills camping to the modern lodging cabins with full accommodations.  We have tent camping, partial RV campsites and full RV campsites.  Our lodging units range from a full size 3 to 5 bedroom 24x cabins to 13x13 cabins that hold the same quality and cleanliness. With over 38 acres of tall pine trees, we are one of the Black Hills most naturally shaded RV & tent camping resorts. Our resort's location in the center of the Black Hills allows our guests to travel throughout the area while using the resort as a centrally located vacation holiday resort headquarters. Resort recreation activities include a modern playground area for children, horseshoe pits, mini golf, a heated swimming pool, and a hot tub facility (for adults), wooded walking trails that will lead you to our petrified wood trail and mystery area where water runs uphill. Our mystery house is a must when you are a guest of our resort.

Our staff will assist you with area plans and offer suggestions that will enhance your vacation experience.  We encourage our guests to contact resort staff for events taking place in our Black Hills area, as well as suggestions of local Black Hills attractions.

Black Hills Area Information: Our staff has a very good knowledge of the attractions in the Black Hills.  Guests are encouraged to seek assistance in planning daily trips into the hills.  We also offer a listing of suggested tours, area maps, and brochures for things to see in the hills.   Being in the center of the Black Hills, we are a short distance to all-major tourist attractions and natural wonders, such as caves, lakes, water falls, archeological sites and the majestic beauty of Custer State Park.  Mt. Rushmore is only a 15-minute drive from the resort.

Black Hills Area Tours: Daily tours, operated by Grayline of the Black Hills and Stagecoach West, to Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Mountain, the Needles Highway and Custer State Park are available daily from the resort.  Black Hills Tours tickets for most Black Hills tours may be purchased at the resort store.  Guests using the area Black Hills tours will depart from the resort store and return to the same location.

Lodging and Camping Resort Courtesy: Quiet hours are from 9:30 PM to 7:30 AM local time. As a courtesy to tent campers we ask that RV'ers with air conditioners and generators be turned off during quiet hours.

Complimentary Pancakes on Us: We offer all of our guests complimentary pancakes (all you can eat) during the regular summer season. Ala carte menu items such as eggs, beverages, Canadian "style" bacon, ham and breakfast burrito may be purchased separately. Fresh homemade pizza and snacks are available evenings. Catering for early evening meals & lunches can be prepared for meetings, retreats and family reunions by advance special request.

Lodging Check In – Check Out:   As a general rule, check in time is 2:00 P.M. and check out time is 10:00 A.M. for all lodging units.  This will allow our resorts housekeeping staff ample time to prepare your unit prior to your arrival.  RV’s, campers and tent campers may check in and check out at noon.

Evening Campfires:  All sites and most lodging accommodations have either a charcoal/wood grill or an approved fire pit. Firewood may be picked up on the ground of the resort property or purchased from the resort store.  A campfire is recommended after a full day of enjoying the magical beauty of the Black Hills and surrounding.

Evening Programs & Festivals in the Black Hills: Throughout the summer various events take place in our amphitheater.  The Black Hills Bluegrass Festival and the Black Hills Gospel Festival are held at the resort and other programs are offered from time to time.  Last year we had a Native American dancing exhibition in our reunion hall every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings throughout the summer.  Our present plans at this time call for their return.  Dates and times are still tentative.

Daily Food Service and Catering:  We offer all of our guests complimentary pancakes (all you can eat) during the regular summer season. Ala carte items such as eggs, beverages, Canadian "style" bacon, ham and breakfast burrito may be purchased separately. Evening meals & lunches can be prepared for meetings, retreats and family reunions by special request.

Laundry Service:  The resort has 2 laundry facilities, one located in the center of the camping area joining the shower house and the other which is located behind the main shower house.

Mail Service:  Resort guests may deposit outgoing mail with the store clerk.  Regular mail received for guests will be kept at the store unless we are instructed further.  RV’ers who wish to have their mail sent to the resort prior to their arrival may pick it up when they register or daily.

Messages:  Messages to guests will be displayed on the message board in the resort store.  Every effort will be made to deliver emergency messages to resort guests immediately.

Pets:  Pets are welcome within reason and must be well mannered, leashed and quiet at all times, under the following conditions.  (1) Guests are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.  (2) Pets are not allowed in facilities such as: restrooms, showers, the pool and hot tub area, the resort store and laundries. (3) Pets may not be left alone whether in the camping areas or lodging units.  The resort feels that people should be allowed to enjoy their pets, but neither we or other guests should have to tolerate ill-mannered pets or clean up after them.  A charge of $5.00 per night per pet for all pets in our lodging units, a $100.00 pet deposit on a valid credit card, and a signed pet agreement are required.
